Our Top Tips for Planning a Portland Wedding
Planning a Portland wedding? Still deciding on the perfect venues, dresses, spa treatments, and cake? We can help!
First of all, congratulations on your big day! I honestly can’t think of a more beautiful place to get married than Portland. Of course, I’m a bit biased :)
But really, whether you’re a local or if Portland is a destination wedding for you and your honey, let me tell you, this city has so much to offer. Portland boasts so many beautiful venues (both indoor and outdoor) and all the options for catering, cakes, dresses, and decor that you could ever want, not matter your style or personality.
I’ve worked with a lot of brides to get them pampered and glowing for their big day, and I’ve also attended plenty of weddings in this area. If you’re still working out the details, I wanted to share my favorite resources for planning the perfect Portland wedding.
Our Top Picks for Portland, OR Weddings:
The Venue
The Village Ballroom is my top pick for a wedding venue, hands down.
I love this beautiful, charity-focused venue, located in a gorgeous historic building in the Woodlawn neighborhood of NE Portland.
The Village Ballroom works with The Oregon Public House, a nonprofit pub located in the same building, and several different non profit organizations that rotate each month. When you book your event, you get to choose which organization(s) the venue will donate the profits to. How cool is that?!
You can have a beautiful wedding and support a good cause at the same time! If that isn’t good karma for kicking off a marriage, I don’t know what is.
(Bonus: The Oregon Public House can cater your wedding and provide alcoholic beverages.)
The ballroom itself can accommodate up to 299 people standing or 160 seated.
Photography
Portland is full of amazing photographers, but I can’t recommend Shelby Brakken enough! She’s amazing at capturing the little, unique moments that make a wedding day memorable.
Cakes
I have dreams about Dream Cakes (seriously...this cake is so YUMMY and memorable). Check out their stunning gallery!
No matter the theme or style of your wedding, their incredible artists will create a striking, one-of-a kind cake your guests will always remember. There are so many delicious flavors and fillings, and frostings to choose from!
Gowns
Continuing with unique, charity-focused wedding vendors, check out Brides for a Cause. This nonprofit sells gorgeous gowns donated by businesses and individuals and then donates the profits to a variety of women-focused charities.
Your wedding can make a difference!
